Hi, I am researching family names Walko and Rusko from (old name) Kruzslyo, (probably) now Kruzlov, Saris County. Family migrated to Pittsburgh PA starting @ 1880 to @ 1905. Can someone confirm these are Rusyn names? Can someone explain the difference between Greek Catholic, Russian Catholic, and Byzantine Catholic? How do I go about researching western PA church records? Diocese or individual parish? Thanks for any help. Kathy |

I never had much luck searching for church records in PA.
Have you tried civil records? Birth records are a good place to start, because most that you would be looking for are available from a central location in New Castle - try a google search on "vital statistics" +PA
The next documents I would check would be the 1900, 1910 and 1920 US Census records. You can access these through your local Family History Center, operated by the Mormon Church. They will show you how to track your family in the census records.
Of course, there is also the online resource of Ellis Island arrivals.
I hope this helps. _________________ Maureen
