In 1990 she was named the Laureate of the Makovicka Struna Rusin Song Festival where competition is held each year in Bardijov, Slovakia. She is well known throughout the Rusin homeland, having performed at many such festivals, including the Rusin Lemko "Vatra" held in Zdyna, Poland.
In 1994, Beata graduated from the music and language program of Pavol Safarik University in Presov. For three years she was a member of the ensemble known as "Sarisan" and for two years performed as soloist for the professional Rusin ensemble PULS that worked out of the Alexander Duchnovich Theater. She has sung on many stages throughout Europe and for the past year has entertained primarily in the Ohio and Pennsylvania area.
Meso Salak is also from Presov. Meso was born of Rusin parents who moved there from near Medzilaborce. In 1992 he too joined the ensemble "Sarisan." For three years he was accordionist for them. Meso also has performed through much of Europe.
After their performance, join Beata and Meso at our annual Duchnovich Dinner, which will be held at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church Hall, 22nd and 3rd Streets NE, Minneapolis, with social hour at 4:00 PM and dinner at 5:00 PM.
