The masonry church replaced an older wooden church. The Lemkos here were deported a few days after Easter in 1947 and the priest o. A. Abramovych was detained in the Jawarzhno concentration camp by the Poles. Fl'orynka was the capital of the inter-war period Lemko Republic.
