The village was first called ORAVA and is mentioned in the Halyc'ko-Volyns'ka Lytopys' (13th century) It was destroyed by Tartars and was rebuilt in 1363, at which time the name was changed to MATSKO. In 1391 it became the property of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Krakow and in about 1400 the first church was built. In 1612 the village was renamed Telich, after the Bishop of Krakow, Lubosz Tylytski. The church was closed in 1636, reduced to a chapel and the people had permission to hold services only once a year. When the Bishop died in 1680 the church was opened again, but was reclosed in 1682 under the new bishop. In spite of the protests of the people, the Greek Catholic Bishop and the Polish King, in 1686 the church was torn down and material taken to MUSHYNKA to build a Roman Catholic church. From 1686 to 1743 there was not a Greek Catholic church in the village.
In 1785 the village lands comprised 27.30 sq km. There were 705 Greek Catholics 315 Roman Catholics and 24 Jews
